Level 2: You can cast on, knit, purl, and bind off

Two-color projects are so hot right now - but with so many gorgeous color options at your fingertips, how do you choose the ones that will make your heart (and your needles) sing? Come learn about color pairing with Seattle designer Cory Ellen! In this workshop, we’ll jump right into the world of color inspiration from art & fashion, to color theory, to knitting technique & tradition and explore what kinds of color pairings appeal to your unique personal style! We’ll also look at swatches and samples up close, for examples of all sorts of color and contrast pairings to get your knitterly gears turning. In the hands-on section of class, we’ll knit two-color swatches using a sequence of small and large stripes, to see how two of your colors blend and play at different proportions. And, as a handy reminder of the topics we cover, each student will receive a handout with helpful terms, photo examples, and tips on how to explore your own sense of two-color play.

Materials needed: 50-100 yard quantities of fingering or sport weight yarn, in 3 or more different colors.

Recommended needles: Size 3 or 4 US (3.25 or 3.5 mm) 24” (61 cm) circular needles, or preferred needles for working flat.
